History of the Morris Group

J.A. (Jack) Morris from Chesterville returned from World War II and purchased a partnership in St. Lawrence Printing Co. Ltd., publisher of the Prescott Journal, in 1948.
In 1964 his partner passed away, and Jack’s son John A. H. Morris purchased the shares from the estate to become his father’s partner.
Since 1964, the company has expanded to include a sheet fed and web printing plant, and seven newspapers..
When John passed away in 2004, ownership of the company passed to his wife, Beth. She had been a high school math teacher until 1983 when she retired from teaching and joined the company. Beth is currently CEO of the company.
Their son, Jeffrey Morris, returned to Canada from a sports marketing career in the USA , and is now Vice President managing the operations in Manotick.
The company is now located in Johnstown, about 3 km east of Prescott at 3201 County Rd. 2.
